I recently decided that I was ready to work part-time, and called a local Workforce Center for help.
With my "ticket to work" card, I spoke with one of the counselors at length. Their goal is get the disabled people back to work, and I presume off SSI. I think that I can work part-time, once I discover what I am still able to do. But I am terrified that I'm going to struggle in whatever work I do find myself in. And that SSI will kick me out, and I'll have to find a place to live, health insurance, and so on.
Am I being completely paranoid, or are these reasonable fears?? I am afraid of losing everything I've finally managed to get because I think that I can work some kind of job maybe 20 hours per week. Our current economy certainly sucks, and Lord knows they're anxious to make citizens less dependent upon government assistance.
Please write back ~ thank you for reading!
