I've actually found it is OK now - we got the dates confused and Tuesday is parents' eve while Thursday is my dr's appt.

It's a bit difficult for me to miss this parents' evening as I am a teacher at one of the feeder schools! Wouldn't look good. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing how well she is doing. Apparently she has been identified as being in the top 5% of the school, ability wise.
