When it comes to do something kind for others, people often think, "Someone else will do it." This is a very common phenomenon, and it's one reason that charities are always asking for donations--you have to keep reminding people their help is needed.

Keep in mind that no matter what we think we know about other people's financial situations, they may be hiding quite a lot. I have divulged to anyone the massive amount of debt I am in, for example.

Have compassion for yourself--you tried to raise money for a good cause, and the effort is what matters. Have compassion for your friends, too, and try not to judge them too harshly. Maybe if you share your story in person more and ask for the donation, you may get a better response?

I am impressed at your efforts to help the foundation. Its work is important.
