sunrise, when you see a dentist for any reason insist he put the rubber wedge in your mouth on the side he's not working on. this will help to not irritate your tmj as much while your mouth is open. the wedge keeps your mouth open, not your jaw joint. plus request you be allowed some breaks if a long process so you can close your mouth for a few.
