I vote for "None of the above". Are you certain no other option exists? Could you, perhaps with assistance, seek a transformed life outside the asylum, a life where you didn't have to pretend or engage in denial?

Having set out on this course of treatment, I'd probably follow through the entire course and then wait as long as I would to see if an antidepressant medication was working -- subject to medical procedures. If after a reasonable time I judged the ECT ineffective, I would not consider it again.
