that was one of my first books my therapist photocopied for me. I took the exercises and changed them to fit me for example on of them (protective container) is to think of a problem and draw the type of containment box needed for you to put that problem inside the box, close the lid and walk away from it. I draw fantastically ...while in the memory piece (alter) known as Mary otherwise forget it. So I took a shoe box and lidI covered them COMPLETELY inside and out with construction paper. I chose brown for solid oak wood. then I folded and glued a few sheets of construction paper to make a dividing wall the width and height of the box and glued it in so that I had a larger space and a smaller space in the box. In the smaller area I put in a red pen, black pen and a blue pen and pads of paper the size of post its and 3 x5 cards. Now instead of a drawing of a containment box I had a containment box. Whenever something keep bouncing around my head I go to the box write it down on a paper. Put the paper in the larger space and put the lid on it and ... walk away. weird but it works. Im doing something simular with a nightmare that I am having. I bulit a scale model of the house that I grew up in since the nightmare locationis that house. Now all I need to do is as I remember the nightmare I can put what I remember into the house. Since right now the house is at my therapist office I get to walk away from it every appointment.

For establishing a safe place I got a huge box and decorated it like my mental safe place la la land.
