My friends Anne Louise & Ellen always throw a big dinner for US thanksgiving every year. Ellen's American. But because the Thurs adn Fri. aren't holidays up here, they always do it on the first Sat. after US Thanksgiving. Ellen is the best cook I've ever met, and she believes in seriously feeding people. I really blew my diet tonight but it was worth it.
She cooked two turkeys - one brined in cranberry juice and smoked, and one roasted the traditional way in the oven. Dressing with chicken sausage in. Butternut squash casserole, Mashed potatoes with roasted garlic and cheese in them, and a green been casserole. For desert there was pumpkin pie and chocolate mint brownies.
And the best part is I got a doggy bag of leftovers to bring home for supper tomorrow.
It was also a super fun party.
I can't wait for Christmas, as I'm spending Christmas Day with the same friends.
