So what is your reaction when It wakes you up?
Hi,
We're always woken up by a dream, however normally we rarely remember it. Like normally you ar'nt conscious of breathing or your heart beating, but when you run or do something exciting you notice your breathing and your heart beating fast.
What you describe is a dream caused by sleep apnea. If you sleep in a bad sleeping position, on your back breathing becomes difficult and sometimes you actually stop breathing and start again, gasping for air. It happens to many people but worse in people who are overweight. However it can happen to anybody.
It is not dangerous but if it happens often you should seek medical help.
