This is exactly what I do. Exercise releases endorphens and makes you feel "happier" all around. Exercise first thing in the morning and it will help set your mood for the day.
Also I use the "walk away" method. If you get angry at a person then simply walk off to a quiet area and close your eyes. Take deep breaths and listen/concentrate on your breathing and heart rate. This usually works in calming me down.
