So, back when I went to school in September, my gym teacher was big on making us feel good about ourselves and building up self-esteem.. To be honest I wish I had continued going just for that.. But anyways the first week she gave us all red yarn, and tied one piece around one of our wrists. She said, "Wear this string to remind you that you are beautiful and strong young women, and also remind you to work hard to be the best you can possibly be everyday."

Even though I abandoned school, and abandoned the latter half of that statement, I still wear this string constantly. It makes me feel better, like I belonged to something special once. Those few minutes when I thought I had lost it (because it had gotten so stretched and worn that it fell off) I felt as if I had lost a piece of what made me me and couldn't stop feeling sad until I found it again.

I don't think I'll ever take it off (intentionally) for the rest of my life.
