That happens to me! Especially the movie thing! Whenever my friends want to see a movie, I always make them pick because if I pick the movie and it sucks, I'm going to feel REALLY guilty for "making" them see a bad movie, even though clearly we all agreed on it and I didn't know it was going to be bad ahead of time.

I don't know how to make the feeling go away, but I do know I can decide whether or not I'll listen to my guilty thoughts. I try to figure out if there's a rational reason for feeling guilty, if I really did anything WRONG. The best thing for me is to pretend someone else did whatever I'm feeling guilty for, and then to decide whether I'd blame them for it. For instance if my friend suggested we see a movie that turned out to be bad, I wouldn't think it was their fault for a second. If I don't blame them, then I try to remind myself it's irrational to blame myself.

Bring on the wonder, we got it all wrong,
we pushed you down deep in our souls, so hang on.
Bring on the wonder, bring on the song,
I pushed you down deep in my soul for too long.
