I can't find where this particular topic has been dealt with before in this forum. I've had exercise phobia all my life. And, all my life, the phobia has prevented me from exercising. When I'm not exercising, I spend almost all my time dissociating. Exercise makes dissociating very hard. Exercise also makes you conscious of having a body, in my case a body I can't stand. Don't know why, but it's the truth. My bod is a perfectly adequate bod, no embarassing gross physical deformities. My pdoc wants me to exercise and, of course, he's right. I know every single one of the mental and physical health arguments in favor of exercise. They don't mean a thing. I don't know how to "feel good" while exercising, or enjoy myself, or whatever you want to call it. I most emphatically DO NOT WANT to "Be Here Now" when I'm exercising, as Baba Ram Dass titled his book. Anyone else suffer from this? Anyone ever found any way around or through? Just trying to force myself does NOT work. Tried that as many times as Mark Twain tried to stop smoking. Would much appreciate your insights. Take care.
