I have heard of using hypnosis instead of anesthesia. I'm not brave enough to try it. But I guess if it was absolutely necessary for a surgery and I couldn't be put out I would have no other option.

Interesting thing.....I was listening to a doctor show on Sirius a while back and they were discussing human sexuality. They said that studies done at NYU and Rutgers have shown that stimulation of a woman's cervix blocks pain receptors. Whatever nerve is stimulated during intercourse is the same one that totally blocks out pain. So if that is not only possible, but proven, I don't see why hypnosis couldn't work. The mind is a powerful thing....
