For those who were so helpful, just wanted to let you know the follow-up to the pharmacist incident....

The pharmacist was in today and I asked to talk with him in private. I told him how I appreciated his concern but not that he brought it up in front of all of the other patrons or that he interjected his opinion in the process. I am aware of all my meds as are all of my docs; they are on the same page. If there is a contraindication or other health risk with the meds, he can contact them directly as well. However, in the future, if he would please talk to patrons in private for any issues without his personal opinion would be appreciated.

You'll never believe his response. He was concerned. He couldn't understand why someone so young and well adjusted was on so many meds. All I could do was laugh; a lot of you have heard my issues. It was involuntary and I couldn't help it knowing my history. I pointed out perceptions are not everything and if that it is how it seems, it is EXACTLY B/C of the meds that I can function. Then he had the gall to ask what it was that made me think I needed them. Then I was pissed. I told him this was beyond his professional scope and he needed to stick to dispensing. If this was a field he was interested in dabbling, he needed a career change but was not using me to do it. I asked if this was going to impact his ability to do his job and if so, I would have to make a call to management. He backed down and said there would be no problems. I told him again that I appreciated the concern and help as they are the ones who keep me safe with all the meds I am on and hope this will continue. He thanked me and then went to get my scripts personally to check out.

This was not how I expected this conversation to go. I never thought I'd dread going to the pharmacist but we'll see what happens after this. I wish there was a regular schedule for them to avoid him for a bit but not possible so we'll see what comes of it. Anything else and I will be making that call.
