Oh, my! And I thought my Christmas Eve fall was bad (broken nose, stitches, wrecked knee, 4 hours in ER; my hands are fine, I used my face and knee to catch myself with), I'll have to tell my husband your story so he won't feel so bad

My female cat is part Maine Coon, she was a huge kitten but never got much larger, is a "normal" size cat, maybe a little larger than most females. Our red male tabby though is large and heavy. He's overweight but also very strong/muscular and fond of not being held/contained so has slashed my husband a couple times trying to get away when we try to get him in a carrier to take to the vets or something. Normally he's the sweetest cat though, very dumb (thinks you're petting him when you're pushing him away, will not take, "go away" seriously).
