Thinking of beginning therapy can sound frightening on different levels. We all (therapy patients and others) spend our money where we choose, on things that are important to us.
Unfortunately, there is no way to predict what your therapist will be like or what your therapy will be like, because it is a unique and individual experience. It wouldn't be a good idea to make a decision from only from reading here, where folks are more likely to post when distressed, so I hope you are looking elsewhere too. A site that helped me decide what kind of therapy and what kind of therapist I wanted was this one:
www.guidetopsychology.com.
Learning about yourself is something we do our entire lives, if we are interested in doing that. What we learn and take from therapy makes our lives feel so much better. Some go to get through a particular time or issue, others take it on as part of lifelong learning, or come and go when needed and desired.
I hope you find what you need to help you with your decision.
