AA always says to "take it a day at a time." Well, a day was too long for me, so I took it a minute at a time. That worked well for me. Maybe it will for you too. Anyone can go a whole minute without using. Then another minute, then another. Pretty soon, it adds up to a whole day!!!
I stayed REALLY busy. Like Madisgram said, I mopped the floor, washed walls, you name it, I did it. My house was the cleanest in town. But it really HELPED me to stay clean/sober. Last July, I had 17 years clean/sober - by the Grace of God and AA. I have to admit that I haven't gone to meetings in quite awhile - I'm disabled and those chairs KILL my back. I can't sit that long.
So, I stay busy here at home and I don't even THINK about booze or pills anymore. It never enters my mind to get high. If you've been clean almost a year, it should be coming close to easing up on you too --- pretty soon you won't be thinking about it either. I asked God to take away my cravings -- and He DID!! Can you believe that??? It was as simple as that - I just asked and it happened.
Best of luck to you -- and keep on keepin on. You are doing too good to throw it all away. God bless. Hugs, Lee
