Good points both of you. I appreciate your response.

Unfortunately my past experience with the "professionals" ....even as limited as it was....was ineffective. In a perfect world and all insurance companies being equal....I would be tempted to try again, but such is not the case.

As I told a friend recently...I am not so much interested in the "why" anymore as I am in the re-programing of my negative thinking. I feel I need better coping skills...more resilience. I can rattle off a whole list of things that went wrong but in the end I still have to come to a plan of action for change.

Most successful people have similar methodology. That's why I turned to this book. I could be very very wrong, but right now I'm not interested so much in "why" as much as I am interested in change, strength, and stability.

Funny story...years ago I quit finally smoking by taking a medication to assist me. The outcome was a success but I gained a few pounds in the process so I bought a self-hypnosis tape to help me loose weight and quickly dropped 5 lbs. I told my son about the latter and in his infinite wisdom he asked "did you really loose weight or do you just think you did?"

I don't mean to make lite of this...I actually take it very seriously. I just try not to take myself too seriously.
