Aye there's the rub.
First, I would ask family questions about things from time to time but when I ask three people the same question I would receive three different answers. Usually i would take the info I got from each person and try to piece together what made the most sense.
Second, at this point there is no one I can ask. Those that are not dead are either incarcerated or missing and assumed dead.
