Korana,

It's great that you were able to talk yourself into a calm state of mind!

I am able to do that sometimes, others...I am past that point and require some other way to calm down. My best way of changing mood is getting out to power walk in nature. It can't always be done, due to weather, but imagining myself in nature & exercising is tried and true for me.
