My problem isn't hearing things wrong, it's going on this big trip from subject to related subject, all in my head, and then answering my girlfriend's question of "Want to go out to eat tonight?" with something along the lines of "My dad's dog got sick from eating dirty underwear!"

Gotta love non-correlated cause-and-effect
