To me, it makes no sense to check credit scores for a job applicant. This creates a catch-22 situation; a bad credit score keeps you from getting a good job, without which you can't improve your credit score.
Is being "overqualified" still a hindrance nowadays? If not, then perhaps seeking a lower-level job might eliminate the credit score difficulty. That is, instead of going after one that requires a BS, go for one that only requires a high school diploma.
