From my knowledge, lamictal is more of a mood stabilizer. It doesn't kick in quickly to stop depression. Plus, long-term use is now being noted to cause really bad side effects. I know, because it happened to me. One social worker told me that the pdoc he works with will no longer even prescribe it at all!
