Thank goodness for these programs. I am on Medicare and the Medicaide Spendown program. Starting Jan. 1st, I will be using the new Medicare RX program. But the medicaid will still cover my dental and doctor and hospital bills.(The part that Medicare does not pay 100% on. )
This is a little off topic but if all else fails people can inquire about the Spendown program at their local mental Health Agency. They can set you up with a case manager...and he/she will handle just about everything else. The way it works is so complicated...it would be hard to explain it here. My case manager at my local mental health Services takes care of the spendown. $519.00 is now my cost per month for the spendown. The cost each month for my meds exceeds $1000.00 per month. (One of them costs 346.00) Unreal..but true. Thank goodness I am good at budgeting..or I would have sunken a long time ago. Being without my meds would be impossible for me. I hope the medicare drug program is run in a respectable way for all.
At one point I was on the Glaxo-Wellcome RX program. I was treated with dignity and great co-operation. No one should have to go without their meds...and should not have to worry about either buying a med OR paying the energy bill.
