I was really unhappy with my psychiatrist. So I went online to look around and see if I was alone in my dissatisfaction with this guy. (And also look for a new Doc.)
I found all these articles and quotes from my doctor about believing bipolar does not really exists, believing that depression is about evil and bad morals, and believing that people with schizophrenics are hopeless. I found a certain posting online where he describes a patient with anxiety and depression coming to him and he told her that she needed to look to her morals to rid herself of the symptoms. When I would go for my appointments, he consistently brought med samples to patients in the waiting room and explained what they were for, etc. right in front of everyone there. I hated that, nothing ever felt right with this doctor compared to my last one, who retired.
Needless to say, I was completely shocked when I saw this stuff all over the internet. This guy specializes in bipolar, schizophrenia, and depression. I have dealt with bipolar I and rapid cycling for 10 years... and all the meds that go with this diagnosis, obviously.
I placed a complaint with MaineGeneral, who he works under. And talked with the patient advocate, but was told he had the right to his opinions as long as he did not implicate MaineGeneral. This guy scares me. He claims to have practiced for 30+ years. I kind of wonder how many people under his care have killed themselves simply because of his treatment.
If anyone knows who I should complain to, write, or call about this guy; please let me know....
