I think that most people just want to feel like they are not alone in this world. Mental illness has a way of segregating us from the norms of society at times. We also tend to "feel" like we are not "normal" and that we are not like other people. So why not congregate and share with others? There is much to be learned from those who suffer similar maladies as well as those who have moved forward and how they've accomplished that.
We are social creatures....we want connection with others for the most part. Granted, there may be times when we need some "me" time. Nothing wrong with that....it's called self care! We're allowed to do self care. If we don't, then how do we continue to give to others when our well runs dry?
