my current T said he asks his clients to commit to 3 sessions before deciding if they want to see someone else. since this is your first therapist, it IS a possibility that you guys just don't "click", and it would be a shame to continue seeing someone who isn't as good a fit for you as you could have.

at the same time, Tree's suggestion does have merit about bringing it up with your T. sometimes our Ts need to be given feedback on how we perceive them/our relationship so that they can change accordingly.

fwiw, i knew within 3 sessions that I wanted to continue working with my T, but it took me well over a year before i could get into the more "serious" stuff with him (we did other useful work in the meantime).
