I don't know what to say about your doctor -but the nurse was wrong: there are
no interactions between Ativan (benzodiazapines) and Emsam (MAOI). THey can safely be taken together. I have consulted many online drug references and none list an interaction with Ativan. Here's what Drugs.com says:
As far as your side effects with Emsam - I did a little research and some people have responded to it and gotten headaches, etc. Mostly side effects included irritability and anxiety. Many people said that when their doc increased the dose from 6mg to 9 or 12mg many side effects if not all went away. I theorize this is because at higher dosages the med may act more on serotonin as well as dopamine.
So your doc is supposed to call you tomorrow? Keep us updated as to what he decides!
