Hi Masimo. I don't have a diagnosis of hyperventilation syndrome but my breathing is most definitely effected by my anxiety, and it's quite alarming when I find my breathing pattern getting out of sync.

I do think that practicing breathing exercises on a daily basis is helpful and I do this. Here's a link to an article I found on HVS and it gives some good instructions for 2 specific breathing exercises.

The other thing that helps me personally when my breathing feels weird is exercise. I find that doing something which forces me to breathe more deeply and more evenly (for example, exercise) is a good way to get my breathing into a healthier pattern.
