Totally. Part of you is like, "Get them away from me they are suffocating me!," or "Get away from you, I want you to be hurt!" It's sort of a borderline behavior too. The push/pull cycle. But definitely in the throes of mania you can push people away with no regard for their feelings, thinking they are replaceable or isolate yourself (which is pushing people away) because you feel depression coming on. It sucks, for me - I try to stay mindful of my actions. If I know my depression is coming back and that I will invariably isolate/alienate, I try to tell my friends in a very mild way that "hey, I'm not feeling well. I miss you and want to hang, but just not now."

But it's hard to be mindful during mania - I've found though that just maintaing a more ethical/compassionate mindset helps - like the golden rule.
Thanks for this!
