As a kid I would get night terrors.... periods where I would wake up gasping and trying to scream (my vocal chords are weird, I can't scream well). I thought it was over with until lately they have been re-occuring, and theirs no particular incident or event that is similar that could have triggered it. I've been told I may have PTSD from many professionals.

The night terrors nowadays I remember. I flip out and walk around and pace and I'm basically looking for comfort. The feeling I get is utter and pure hell. Seriously. It's horrible, with no exaggeration.

I've been told they are night terrors/sleep terrors until one doctor told me that it isn't a sleep terror because I remember it (I think he is wrong, he was kind of arrogant, hostile and blunt... would cut me off when I was talking even minimal). However, a psychiatrist that spent a lot of time actually listening to what I had to say told me that she thinks it may be flashbacks I am having that only come out if I am interrupted in my early sleep stages (I get night terrors usually if theirs noise within first couple hours of sleeping). They are also very prominent if I am extra stressed or tired. I could see how it could be a flashback because I 'hear' and 'see' a group of people around me doing horrible things to me while trying to calm me... yet it isn't a hallucination. I don't literally see or hear it outside, but inside me I do.

Any thoughts or pointers? They are really scary. I will be okay so don't worry though.
