i'm so glad u are seeking answers.
what works for me, 21 years sober, is AA. to clarify it is not a God/religion based support group. it is suggested tho that we have a belief in a higher power. i used the group cause they were successfully doing what i thought i was unable to do-stay sober.
for me cutting back didn't work. i had crossed over that "invisible line" into alcoholism. some ppl can avoid that even if they are problem drinkers. but once i crossed that line i will remain an alcoholic. the difference is i have arrested this disease by abstinence. only YOU can determine what you are or aren't.
