And I am sure you can find people who will tell you you are ugly. If you let them. Lot of people are insecure, and making others feel like cr*p, makes them feel good about themselves. Don't give their insecurity a free ride. Unfortunately your sister seems to be one of them. You can't win in a contest in which SHE is the measuring stick.

I encourage you to explore a bit. Have a free make-up done, get one of those "glamour" shots (sometime they run coupons). See if that's who you are.

Search your deeper mind. Maybe your ineptness with a makeup brush is a rebellion against the pressures to be one kind of pretty. You know that straight girls can be butch too, right? Dunno if you've seen any Eureka (sci-fi show) but you made me think of Jo Lupo the deputy sheriff. You look a bit like her. She is a graduate of West Point, strong, muscled, unadorned and sexy like hell. Even though in the beginning of the show Jo is not having much luck in a romance department she does later and is presented as quite attractive. In one of the episode a young, pretty scientist envies Jo so much, she morphs herself into her and attempts to replace her. Confident, competent women are attractive, especially to a secure man who does not need his partner to be less than his equal. And believe me, you'd rather deal with those than the insecure ones and their delicate egos.
