I can feel the pain of the longing in your post...knowing that it's so hard to endure. My hope for you is that you someday are pleasantly surprised that the void that you feel can be filled - and that maybe it's not that the need is too big, but that maybe it's specific to something...and once work through that, there will be a transformation for you that will be incredibly rewarding.
