I used to work in a hospital and found a rare few who would get mad at people who s/i. They would say the person was weak. So when I first s/i'd and all the other times I never went to the hospital for fear of coming across one of these idiots. But for the most part all of the rest were very compassionite. A few months later I had a girl in the lab cry because she was upset about my scars. She has been the only person who has reacted at all about them outside of mental health.
