And what is their plan when you call back Monday with the same problem? If they have a plan why didn't they start with it the day you called? I guess I would want to seek a second opinion if the dentist can't respond when I call the first time. I don't see the point of waiting, unless he is just hoping the pain will magically disappear if you wait a few more days, which seems very unlikely since you've had this pain since spring. It never hurts to get a second opinion.
