Has anyone else experienced hearing problems caused by Effexor? If you had hearing problems caused by Effexor and are now off Effexor, did your hearing return to normal and if not, what happened? Did your doctor give you any insight to the problem? Thanks!
Hi,

I feel Remeron might have contributed to a hearing loss for various reasons. Even though I discontinued everything last year, while I think things have improved, I don't think my hearing will ever get back to 100%.

I also developed tinnitus from other drugs which has not gone away. It sounds like that is what you are talking about right in addition to the hearing loss?

As an FYI, I was on a cocktail of meds for several years so my situation might be different from yours. As to your potential for complete healing, it depends on so many things.

A primary care physician thought the tinnitus might be permanent. But I have heard of other people saying that theirs completely cleared up.

Other than the primary care physician's comments on tinnitus, I got no help as far as my hearing loss. The typical speech was the drug had nothing to do with it. I will leave it that and let you draw your own conclusions.

I wish you luck with your recovery.
