Have you ever stopped to cut your losses and figure out what actually works for you? I remember when I discovered I just wasn't ever going to be a reader of textbooks

so I quit trying to learn the material that way and started writing and interacting with other students and thinking about the questions and researching them rather than just doing the textbook reading in the way it was assigned.
Find what interests you or makes you curious about what you are studying and start from there and work out. Make your own problems with your papers and twist the assignment to work for you, rather than just being a literal translation of what you think your professor wants. It's your education, not your professors; what do you want to learn?
