Granite1,
Having worked in 2 rescue missions myself, the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004 for one, it is a difficult but very rewarding experience to be able to help those that really need the help at the time. I would never give up those experiences for nothing at all. Your son will be providing some very well needed assistance. Even by just delivering water to those who don't have it is more than what they have now.
You should be very proud of him. He is doing great things. It sounds as if you have raised a wonderful young man if he is willing to do this. He knows that he always has your support, so that will help him if he needs some strength.
Nannypat,
Prayers for your family.
