The problem with dental and mental health insurance is that the only people who want/need it are those who use it so there's no way for an insurance company to afford to offer it. They have to make money to pay their administrators but if you are paying $10 in premiums but your T costs $20, how can they do that? You need to belong to a group or job that offers mental health insurance but where not everyone/very many use it so those that don't use it are paying for you to (while you are paying more money for regular medical care they may use but you don't).

Mental health insurance is going to get less and less easy to find as more and more people watch TV ads and decide, "gee, I'm feeling depressed, I need to go see the doctor and get some medicine". Insurance, by definition, is for "in case" something happens, illness/kid breaks an arm falling off his bike, etc., not the day-to-day reality for many of us.

Look at any professional organizations you might be elegible for/join that might offer insurance plans you could buy into. For example, my husband is an electrical engineer and has some insurance through IEEE: http://www.ieee.org/membership_servi...insurance.html
