Just passing it along...I find it encouraging that the man already has a Nobel Price (2000) for his work with neurotransmitters. It also means that he has moved one link down the chaintoward the soloution.
The way I read the article is that the functioning of this protein is what dtermines how well seratonin works, whether the brain can use it effectively...in other words, it wouldnn't matter how much seratonin is present in the synapse, if the receptors on either side of the gap cannot bind with it.
But don't listen to me...I'm just a crazy unemployed rock'n'roll bass player....not a neuro-pharmo-psycho-ologist!!!
