I receive SSDI and was given a ticket to work several years ago as soon as qualified for it to help with retraining/education. For those who are familiar with it, or rather for those who aren't, you sign your "ticket" over, (or not), to a state or private agency that can help you with retraining or education to helping you get you back to work. The advantage is of course retraining and education but also that while with the agency, you are exempt from medical reviews, to date. I choose the state vocational rehabilitation agency and have been with them ever since. They have been very helpful and I have done everything they have indicated, set a good plan agreeable to us both for what I can handle given my disability.

However, I got a letter in the mail from the Ticket to Work office this week asking about my progress. It indicates milestones that I should be reaching at the various years which are different from the state agency's requirements and indicates if not reached, I will be subjected to medical reviews again.

This set off a fire storm as no one has received them in years and they used to only go to those who did not have tickets supposedly. The state agency counselor contacted Ticket to Work. There has been a moratorium on these progress reports for several years but they have been reinstated. They are now required for everyone and we definitely could be subjected to medical reviews if progress is not made. According to the State Agency's last mandates from the Social Security and Ticket to Work, we are not to be subjected to medical reviews while having our tickets assigned to the agencies. It has now gone to the head of our state agency to contact them and sort out.

In the meantime, Ticket to Work said everyone with a ticket will start receiving these progress reports again and they are required. Do not ignore them. It is a very simple form and took a minute or two to complete.

Perhaps you have already received one; this is my first in all these years. If not, hopefully this will help so you'll be familiar with it when it does come.
