I have a condition called "vulvodynia" and it involves very painful sensations making sex impossible at times. I was diagnosed by a GYN and referred to another GYN who was a specialist. For many years I was treated as if I had a UTI, yeast or other bacterial infections. Except that whenever a culture was collected - the results would be negative.

Here is a link to a web site that helped me understand my condition better. I also got lots of great info frm the specialist. Each person is different and has different triggers that can cause a flare up. For me it is nutrition - if I skip meals, I am likely to come down with a flare-up. Chocolate also can likely cause a flare-up. Eating peppers helps a lot. In fact, if I eat peppers several times during the week and lay off the chocolate - I can feel comfortable enough to consider getting together with my husband.

Good luck - make an appointment as soon as you can. A culture will confirm if infection or not.
