I love listening to the interviews on Madness Radio and this weekend I introduced my son to them.

We listened to Pat Deegan's interview on personal medicine on Saturday morning. One of my favorites. http://www.madnessradio.net/madness-...sonal-medicine

He actually asked to hear another one on Sunday. I tried the Rufus May interview, but he didn't like it. I don't know if the British accent was too heavy or if the volume wasn't loud enough. Even at top volume, it's pretty quiet. So I settled on the Ronald Bassmann interview. http://www.madnessradio.net/madness-...ogist-survivor

They're both psych survivors - dx'd with sz in both cases - who have recovered. (As is Rufus May.)

Fabulous interviews. Implicit in the interviews (and stated outright by Bassmann) is that there isn't one right way to deal with psychosis. Different people will have to find different ways through.

Those of us who love someone struggling with psychosis can try and make a safe space for them while they deal with the challenges. Unfortunately we don't live in a culture that makes safe spaces for people in extreme states of consciousness. On the contrary we tend to make them feel much less safe.
