Very lucky that NOTHING IS BROKEN..but seem to be having a strange problem & not sure if it's serious or not.

Friends dogs barked at the other horses....those horses took off in a spook which causes the horses we were riding to spook. Huge sideways lunge & took off in the sideways direction, leaving me in the air in the place where the initial spook happened. Couldn't recover with half-haults to get the horses mind back because my mind had not been there at the moment it happened in the first place. Found myself with my leg over the saddle & standing in the other stirup & just didn't feel that recovery was possible at that point.

Soooooooo.....I landed on the ground on my back just around where my waist is.....the jar was amazing. I sat there for a couple of minutes trying to regain my mind & body & assess if there was something that might be a break or anything serious that would keep me from wanting to move.

Back around the area of my waist really throbbed & eek, must have jarred my bladder (how embarrassing) cause I ended up with wet pants & not from the ground I landed on. Friends husband came back with the horse I was riding (the most beautiful Friesian you can imagine). I finally got up on my feet & started to walk....no problem but could really feel the shaken up area in my body.

Walked back to my friends house & got a clean pair of undies & riding pants & was feeling better at that point. Could move without any problem....just stiff to bend & lift my leg.....but got myself back onto the horse & we had a wonderful WALK for our ride.....the joggle of the posting trot when I tried it was a bit uncomfortable so just stuck with several miles of walking today....only our 2nd ride getting ready for the endurance clinic anyway.

We had lunch & I drove home to get a nice HOT shower to see about helping the stiffness I knew was setting in. Shower was around 5pm......layed down on my bed & fell asleep for about an hour.....bit of headache (which I have constant migraines anyway & am on pain meds for that.....so thought with the strong pain meds I was on....I really shouldn't feel any serious pain other than something that might be serious.....it's really just throbbing that is going on with my back just above my waist.

Woke up around 8pm & started working on my diary cards for my DBT group in the morning. Noticed that I was feeling hot, so I took my temperature.....it was all the way up to 101.8 & throbbing head a bit more than before I fell asleep. Don't think I have a concussion as I didn't land anywhere close to my head.

I wasn't sick or feeling bad before this...like coming down with the flu or anything....not sure where the temperature is coming from. Not sure if bruised kidneys could cause the temp. Will have to keep a check on myself......strange feeling living alone when things like this happen. I took some ibuprofen, but think the bottle of it is old....not sure if it's even good anymore. No blood in the urnine (sorry about the TMI). I have been drinking water with some ice in it to try to cool down but hasn't helped.....guess the ibuprofen is kicking in a little...temp dropped by 1 degree.....heading downstairs to the kitchen for some ice cream......craving something cool to eat right now.

Hoping to feel better tomorrow for my DBT group & have to drive into the big city 45 minutes away so I can pick up my prescription that the manufacture has been messing up providing. Maybe pain specialist will have some knowledge, but don't have an appointment until next week.

Ribs feel a bit twisted, but no bruise like pain there. Will stay up to get the DBT homework done for tomorrow (always wait until last minute ......duh), feed the dogs & head for bed. Haven't been sleeping good lately, but really feel tired...hopefully a good sleep will help me feel better tomorrow.

Had plans of coming home after riding & getting some real house work done & something really accomplished.....sort of messed up those plans for that.....but there's always tomorrow & then with that tomorrow always has a tomorrow too.

It was a beautiful day for riding today though.....spring is here. The wind wasn't as bad as it gets in the California desert where I rode before moving here.

Anyone had experience with this sort of injury to the back area from any other kind ....any input would be welcome......however....giving up riding isn't an option. Falls & learning from them how NOT TO FALL THE NEXT TIME are just a part of riding....just hope they don't happen too often or end up serious with anything broken.
