Since I have 2 daughters (9 and 13), self empowerment is very important to me, so be prepared for a 'you go girl speech' here lol. First of all I'm very honest - meaning I wouldn't say you're attractive if you not. I'll also state that although it seems society focuses on outer beauty, what's really important is inner beauty.

You had your picture on your profile for a short time - I thought you were pretty and I don't even think you had any makeup on. Speaking of makeup - you should google star/famous people without makeup. Only a small percentage of women are pretty without makeup. We live in a society where there's incredible pressure to be perfect. Look how many stars have ruined their faces from bad surgery and injections.

My daughter did a school speech on false beauty - how the beauty industry/fashion industry photo-shops images - they take photos and photo-shop them on the computer. They can do anything - change eye color, make a neck longer, hips slimmer etc, etc, etc. We constantly see these unattainable pics in all the fashion magazines. Even those models don't look like their photos when they wake up in the morning.

Regarding your friend - men are very visual and it's normal for them to find varied women attractive, so don't let this bother you. Men are attracted to a confident woman and a jealous attitude is a red flag. There will always be someone more attractive than us and you will be more atractive than some too - that's just the way it is.

For me personally - I would rather be with not so attractive man who has a great personality than a hunk of a guy, who's mean and shallow. I also believe in making the best of your positive assets - maybe it's your eyes, smile hair, what ever. I think the self confidence of young girls and girls your age is reaching epidemic levels. There one company(Dove) that talks about the negative beauty industry. Have a look at this webiste and click on the square that says 'a dove film where the boy is looking up' - it's a cute segment -then browse around the website. Also watch the video titles 'evolution' which shows the transformation models go through abd how they retouch photos. I like their ad campaign because they use real women, not perfect looking models.
