If he's not the one, and you consider him your friend, you owe it to him to tell him how you feel so you both can move on.

Maybe you can write out your feelings, to help you feel less confused, and that can help you talk to him about how you feel. He may not want to be friends with you at first, but you have to understand that he will be hurt - being with someone for 6 years is a long time and it will take some time to get over but maybe in the future you can be friends.

I agree with Lee that you are wasting your life being with someone you don't want to be with and it's not right to be lying to someone all the time either - he's trusting you - let him go and take the time you need to be alone. If you have people to lean on for emotional support this is definitely the time to do it.
