I would not sacrifice yourself and your own dreams for someone else, even someone one loves. Mature love can make most problems in a relationship work but though I have known many people/instances where one regretted giving up one's own dreams, I do not know of any where having to move on from another person (to get what one wanted for one's own life) ended badly. Everyone is working on their own lives and when we try to move over into someone else's dreams and forsake our own, that causes problems for us. Parents, spouses, children, boyfriends/girlfriends, regular friends and family all swirl around us in our lives, coming and going as they need, trying to mold to another's mold can't work ultimately.
