Well yesterday I saw my new pdoc for the first time. (switched from an overcrowded large mental health provider place, to a smaller, independent one). Dr. Dickers was very friendly, and had a wild sense of humor just like me. So we hit it off pretty well. He even gave me some meds that may help me manage my tourettes syndrome.
But 2 things are bothering me.
1. he made fun of my tourette's. he asked me what kind of tics i am having, so i showed him (which is very uncomfortable for me because i have only recently been able to tell boyfriend all my tics). One of my tics is a vocal one. It is kind of like a grunt but with my diaphragm and exhaling my breath. like "hyuut". but with also saying "alright" in a british accent. (embarrassed just typing that now!). so its like *hyyy-al-ryit* or something, its hard to explain. Anyway... when i did it for him, he laughed at it and tried to do it himself, and laughed that he couldnt. and i told him that talking about it was still uncomfortable for me. but he didn't apologize or anything. Then later on in the session we were laughing about something else, and he tried to do the vocal tic i have, and laughed again about it.
and then 2. He told me that if i ever overdosed on any medicine that he prescribed to me, that he would "fire" me, as in, he would not be my pdoc anymore, no exceptions. I hope i really am past all my OD's and that i dont do it again. But I have never had a pdoc tell me that before. is that unusual?
