My question is what anti depressants do not put weight on? I know me and if the meds pack on the weight I will stop them. I am mostly interested in SSRI's (I think that is what they are called). My insurance isn't so hot so I can't take any brands so the real new ones probably won't be an option. Also, what about the anti psychotics? Who knows what the psychiatrist will suggest?
Thanks!

Less likely to cause weight gain:
-Wellbutrin (actually can cause weight loss)
-Effexor XR
-Cymbalta
-Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin, Vyvanse
-Topamax
-Abilify**
(although depends on how you respond to it)
Moderately cause weight gain:
-Trazadone
-Luvox
-Prozac
-Paxil
-Lexapro
-Celexa
-Zoloft
(although this can be activating for some reducing the chance of gaining weight)
-Geodon**
-Lamictal
Most likely to cause weight gain:
-Remeron
-Zyprexa
(can cause Metabolic Syndrome*)
-Seroquel
(can cause Metabolic Syndrome*)
-Clozapine
-Lithium
-Depakote
-Serzone (not used as much anymore but related to Trazadone)

Some of the SSRIs from the Moderate list could be here as well. It all depends on how YOU react to the med. One person might gain weight while another loses weight.
**Gray area (depends on the way you respond):
-Risperdal
-Abilify
-Geodon
*Metabolic Syndrome:
A group of risk factors including high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol levels, and belly fat that increases risk of heart disease and diabetes.
This is what I can recall from memory. Hope it helps.
